Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning
Right away, you may be asking yourself what exactly is an HVAC system. HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and it states the functions of the system. They are designed to provide thermal control and indoor comfort to the environment it inhabits. In Florida, stepping into any building, or home with air conditioning is an indescribable feeling. There are several types of HVAC systems that you can find in various areas.
Types
- Split – This is named after the way that it’s set up. It is comprised of two separate units, a condenser, and an air handler. The condenser is located on the outside of your home and takes the heat from inside the house and transfers it outside. The air handler pushes refrigerant through to cool down your home.
- Heat Pump – Pumps heat from the house and transfer it outside and vice versa if needed during the wintertime. Not ideal for constantly cold climates and is a variation on the traditional split system. They’re mostly found in condominiums.
- Packaged Heating and AC System – Unit that has the two components of a split system packaged into one compact structure. It is a great alternative if you don’t have the space to fit a split A/C in your home. They are also typically mounted on the exterior of the home.
